As an official partner to Symbian, TC TrustCenter gives developers and test-houses the support they need to sign software with the Symbian Signed program.  This includes the initial developer signature, the signature for an evaluation version by a test-house and the signature for the final official application version.

As part of evaluation, applications are tested based on set criteria.  More than 20,000 applications and their contents have been examined and signed to date.

Symbian OS applications are signed in several steps in the Symbian Signed program:

  1. A developer requests a TC Publisher ID certificate to prove the developer’s identity and legitimacy.
  2. The developer uses the TC Publisher ID to sign a first or enhanced version of a new application and transfers it for evaluation to an official test-house via the Symbian Signed portal.
  3. Prior to evaluation by the test-house, the developer’s signature is removed and replaced by a new one.  This signature is created with a unique certificate, the TC Content ID.  The certificate is uniquely linked to the developer and the application version.
  4. On successful completion of evaluation, the final application version is given a final signature with a TC Content ID.  Only this final signature enables simple and trustworthy installation and the use of all device features by the application.

With TC Publisher IDs and TC Content IDs for Symbian Signed, developers and test-houses can easily and cheaply sign Symbian applications or have them signed.

  • The TC Publisher ID verifies the application’s author to the test-house, and
  • The TC Content ID authenticates the Symbian application for use by end users and smartphones.

In this way, signed applications can be delivered securely and with confidence, and can then be used with full faith on devices based on the Symbian OS.

Application and Issue
Simply apply online for your TC Publisher ID.  Once it has been issued, you will receive an e-mail with detailed instructions on the documents you need to send for verification purposes.

As soon as we receive and have checked all documents, we issue you with your TC Publisher ID certificate.  It is sent to you by e-mail with information about how to install it.  We will send you a reminder before your certificate expires to give you time to apply for a follow-up certificate. 

Please Note: To enroll online for a certificate it is required to generate a key pair on your PC locally.  Therefore, please set browser options to allow ActiveX controls.
